Instructions

  3. Combine Ingredients: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a thick batter forms. Stir in the raisins if using.

Frying the Fritule

  1. Heat the Oil: In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Shape the Dough: Using a small ice cream scoop or a spoon, drop small balls of dough into the hot oil. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  3. Fry Until Golden: Fry the fritule until they are golden brown and cooked through, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking. This should take about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  4. Drain Excess Oil: Remove the fritule with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Serving the Fritule

  1. Dust with Powdered Sugar: While the fritule are still warm, dust them generously with powdered sugar. You can also sprinkle a little cinnamon if desired.
